We know that many events and conferences have gone back to pre-COVID policies around masking and vaccination and that this policy may seem unusual to you. However, we feel we have two responsibilities: (1) Leather is a subculture that celebrates and encourages close personal contact and we want our weekend to facilitate that for attendees and (2) To create an event and space that is as safe for disabled individuals as possible.
Because of that, we ask that attendees provide proof that they have received a COVID booster within the past 12 months from the date of the event. When you check in at the registration desk, our volunteers will ask for your proof of vaccination. You can provide it on paper or electronically, but it must be from within the last 12 months. Masking with a KN95 or equivalent is encouraged for everyone, to protect vulnerable folks in our communities.
Please email us (admin@michiganleatherpride.org) in advance of the weekend for any reasonable accommodation questions or requests.
We know the current public health landscape in the United States in 2025 is difficult. If you are having trouble finding someplace to get vaccinated at, please check https://vaccinefinder.org/ and https://cveep.org/vaccine-locator/. Please call ahead to confirm that they have vaccines in stock.
If you are having any symptoms of respiratory illness (sniffles, coughing, runny nose, fever, etc.), even if you think they are just allergies, we ask that you please stay home. Refunds are available upon request due to illness, just email us at admin@michiganleatherpride.org.
We know some people will think our policy is too restrictive and decline to attend -- that's okay and we wish you well. We know other people will think our policy is too lax and also decline to attend -- similarly, that's okay and we also wish you well. We support your individual decision-making when it comes to COVID risk.
